Never Look Away by Linwood Barclay

A reporter, in the middle of working on a controversial story, decides to take his wife and 4-year-old son to an amusement park for a day of fun. Suddenly, the wife disappears. And the cops think all the evidence points to him. So begins Never Look Away. The reporter is a sympathetic character, desperately trying to find out what happened to his wife (which involves several good plot twists) and trying to prove his innocence, all the while trying to stay ahead of the Powers that Be who are opposed to the story he's been working on. A good page-turner for a rainy Sunday afternoon.
